Clinics

Presentations are 45 min  followed by a Q & A session on various important music fundamentals. These clinics are presented in a general format suitable for any instrument. Students are encouraged to bring their instruments though not much playing will be necessarily taking place.

 

Rhythm 101- Learn the basic rhythmic terms and concepts and how to apply them to everyday playing. Rhythm is the one concept that unites every single instrument.


 

The Note Cycle

The difference between Sharps and Flats is discussed while naming each note in order on a given instrument. Explore how the language of note names 

makes communicating to other musicians more efficient


 

Chords and Intervals

Multiple harmonies played simultaneously are know as chords. The concept of intervals are how the types of harmonies are categorized. Covered in this clinic are the different varieties of common chords and intervals.


 

The Major Scale

Get started on a basic understanding of the how the notes of The Major Scale are put together. Find out more about Modes and the chords that come from them.

 

Group Classes

Beginner’s Course

Students are organized in separate classes for instrument specific drills, exercises, and easy songs. This can be given as a weekly course or a one-time class. The Clinic topics can also be presented in a group class format. Students would be expected to bring their instruments to play during class while discussing the material.

Ensemble Classes

Each of the different instrumentalists can play in a group together to use the basics learned in the Beginner’s Course. It is recommended that students need to have an understanding of notes/chords and rhythms to fully enjoy this class. Drummers or percussionists are welcome for the Ensemble Class.

 

Book Tours

Below are brief descriptions of each four book instructional series available for guitar, electric bass, and ukulele that all progress in tandem. These general courses talk about how the books can be used in customizable ways while introducing the topics they cover. These tours can be organized by like instruments or any combination of the three. The book series for each instrument covers the same topics in the same order.


Level One

Learn basic skills on your instrument. Tuning, warm up exercises, easy rhythms, note names, generic chord progressions, and quick song chart reading.

 

Pentatonic and Major Scales

Tom Maslowski has a unique pattern based method of memorizing and navigating the different positions and keys for the Pentatonic and Major Scales. Learn the ins and outs alongside fellow musicians.

 

Level Two

Get started with reading sheet music one string at a time, and take a deeper dive into chords, scales, and rhythms. Triplets and Sixteenth Notes are introduced along with Odd Time Signatures. 

 

Chords and Rhythms

Master a number of chord types and varieties over common chord progressions using odd times, triplets, and sixteenth notes in addition to common time in every key.
