I just purchased Chords and Rhythms for Guitar to use as an aid to help me with a new guitar student (late teens).  I wholeheartedly agree with the approach outlined in this book and it immediately aligns with how I've been trying to cover some of the core elements of music theory while at the same time providing some practical hands-on activity that will guide the student in a systematic approach to building the strength and know-how to play chords and rhythms.  This book will not overwhelm a beginning student and does not do an early dive into tablature which is a great thing long term.  I don't know the author and nobody asked me to provide this review - I give this book and methodology 5 out of 5 stars!

As a self taught guitarist playing for many years. This series of books helped me build the strong core foundation I assumed I already had. They present music theory, scales, rhythm in an easy to follow not overly complicated way, plus they include practice exercises! Whether you're just starting out or have been picking around for years these books offer a practical and well structured approach that I can use in my every day playing. Highly recommend for anyone!

Tom Maslowski is a fantastic teacher. I had played guitar by ear for many, many years and wanted to learn bass “the right way.” He stripped my playing down to the studs and slowly built up my dexterity, note recognition, and more important, confidence. Tom will not directly show you but will let YOU find what you need. This is a much more effective teaching tool. You retain the knowledge you learn much better. When he told me he had books, I jumped at the chance. His writing is easy to follow and digestible. They have served me well when we can’t get together ( I am often gigging). Before I went to Tom, I would be terrified on a bandstand if someone called out the key and progression. Now, absolutely no sweat. Thanks, Tom.
